Dear Wifey-
Well today is the day.We are leaving sometime this afternoon fo San Antonio, Texas.Last night I was going to call up but after everyone heard about the move they all rushed to the phones.I waited, but finally gave up. I will call again. Yesterday I was picked , along with 3 others to go to Mitchel Field to work on the shipping orders-putting them together and stapling. Now we are on a break- reading letters and eating cookies.Got a nice letter from you which makes feel ducky wucky.All the guys are dressed up just waiting to be called-nothing to do but play black jack.JJust came back from chow an d ate more food at this meal than I have ever eaten(?). Started with meat plate with potatoes, corn, and noodles(lukshen) and cheese( talk about starch) ,mince pie. Then another meat plate and more pie- this time apricot. The other night(Sunday) I went into NY and called up Bernice( Brother Jerome’s friend-2333 Creston ave. Bronx, Her mother told she was at a meeting at Temple Emannuel( 65th & 5th Ave)I went there and Emily Post was the speaker.After the meeting about 9 million girls rushed out like a stamede I must have missed her in the herd.So I rushed over to Lexington and 68th st and took a subway to 183rd, st near where she dwelled on Creston Av.I rushed upstairs ( It was 11 PM)and went in. Her mother and she were in housecoats and we talked for a while.More later.

My dearest darling wife,
Today and every day, but today especially,I am the happiest man in the world.I could not be mad at anyone. I am ready to go back to the old “army routine” with a new determination and a new sense of patriotic and maternal responsibility.I am not only a member and preserver of the greatest country and land in all history, but also the lover,husband and protector of the sweetest, grandest, most beautiful and devoted wife a man could ever have.Incidentlaly just to prove the truth and sincerity of my point- a bit of music on the radio here in the Day Room is “I Love You Truly". It’s really beautiful, just as true love is. was and always will be. As the mellow tones of the singer come forth it makes one stop and reminisce of our beautiful love in days gone by when it was as a budding flower still to reach it’s greatest glory and worth, at which point it stands at this moment. Only –as the flowers must die and wilt away, our love made of stronger stuff, will will last and withstand the ravages of time and the misgivings of fate, to bloom and remain as fragrant, delicate and as colorful as the day when first the seed was planted those so few but so eventful years ago.
